On Tuesday April 14th, the third grade students will perform their spring program at RCES in the gym at 6:30 p.m. This year’s program is called JAZZ - A Swinging Celebration. The students will learn about the beginnings of jazz music and sing songs from the jazz era. During class, the students will watch video clips of people playing and enjoying jazz music of the 1920’s, 30’s and 40’s. We will even learn how to do some swing dancing. For the program, the students should wear nice clothes, as if they were going to a jazz club to hear some cool music. I am also encouraging students to research a specific jazz musician. They can create a poster (poster board size) with pictures and information about the musician which will be displayed so families can read them. This is not a required assignment. Students who do turn in an informational poster will get to select a prize from the prize box and be entered in a special drawing. Students are able to access all the lyrics and listen to the music they will be singing at home so they can practice via this website; reedcustermusic3.weebly.com. Another letter will be sent home the week before the program with specific details about rehearsal and the program. If you have any questions before then, you can leave a message for me at the school or send an e-mail to [email protected]. Thank you for your continued support of music education.
